Dear Sis - My Mess, Your Lessons - A BOOK BY AJ Rozier

Dear Sis . . . part memoir, part self-help guide

I take you on the journey of my life, my messy experiences from middle school through young adulthood that helped shape who I am today, while giving you the opportunity to self-reflect on your own journey to self-discovery.

This book allows young ladies to understand and know that they are not alone and that quite often we all share the same stories. Each chapter provides pertinent lessons I learned along the way ending with thought provoking questions to get the wheels turning on how you want to show up in the world. It is my hope and prayer that you are empowered to be yourself completely without shame or guilt after reading Dear Sis . . .

Why teach through my experiences?

Sense of expression
I had a lot of experiences, some good, some bad and it felt like I was keeping it all to myself not realizing that it could possibly help someone.
Something to put out in the atmosphere that I created
I believe everyone has something to give back and it took me awhile to figure out how I was going to put my stamp on the world. I thought because I didn’t have any popular talents like singing, dancing, athleticism, etc. that meant I didn’t have anything substantial or even likable to young ladies to want to read about.
Ultimately I don’t want girls to feel alone because I felt so lonely during a lot of moments I experienced (outlined in the book).

Dear Sis is your judgment free zone to navigate through some of life’s challenges by reading about my unfiltered messy mistakes that can ultimately turn into your cheat code to success.

Check it out!

The book is very good for teenage girls because it shows them they are not alone in some of the situations that they go through. It taught me not to stress about trivial things because life isn’t over and better days, better friends, even better boys are to come. It was reassuring to know that many of the issues I’ve experienced or emotions I’ve felt were not unique to me, because Ms. Ashley went through many of the same things years ago.

This is a book that every adolescent and teen should read. I read it with my daughter and was in awe that so many of the chapters were relatable to her. The book covered several things that she has struggled with from being liked, self-esteem, making poor choices, etc. I was extremely happy that we read the chapter about freshman year together, because I think it gave her a heads up for when she goes to college next year. I think the knowledge dropped had greater impact because it came from someone other than mom. This book is ABSOLUTELY necessary!

This book was a breath of fresh air. It made me and daughter have very intimate conversations about being present and loving the space that we are in together. This book created in me accountability to quit my demanding corporate job and pursue my career on my terms. I am now showing my daughters what it looks like to live a “balanced life… taking care of my body, mind, and spirit”.  Thank you AJRozier #thewriter
